What rock have I been living under, having not read this series yet? I’ve had Only When It’s Us on my Kindle for a long while, per Britt’s recommendation, but I finally binged this series this past week, and oh man – I am in love.
While this is pub day for book three, a Bergman SISTER novel, I am going to give a brief overview of books one and two as well.
Book One – An enemies to lovers trope, which we all adore. It also has a swoony male lead (with a beard) who also has a hearing impairment (plus they’re both athletes, which adds an interesting element). This guides much of the plot, and was so handled so sweetly. I truly fell in love with these characters, this author’s style of writing, and this entire family! I was hooked from the very beginning.
Book Two – An opposites attract trope that also has an athlete as a main character as well as someone on the hockey team’s staff as the main female lead. Frankie, our sassy female MC, is also on the Autism spectrum. This is an #ownvoices story, and it is wonderful. I liked book two even more than book one. It was addicting, sweet, sexy, and funny!
Book Three – This is my favorite of three. It has a married couple as its focus, which is totally different from the first two books, which have MCs trying to find love (or avoid it completely) as singles. This book opens with a marriage in trouble, and its alternating perspectives on what is going on within their marriage will have you wanting to scream at them to open up their communication lines and tell one another how they’re feeling! The husband has an anxiety disorder, and once again – the author handles this so well. This was gut wrenching, but also hopeful and sweet. I absolutely adored it.
Chloe Liese, I am sorry I’m late to the party, but I’m here to stay!
