Hi Amanda’s friends!
Becky here! As you can see, I’ve taken over Amanda’s blog today!
This week for the #SBPT, we are not only taking over each other’s blogs, but our TBR’s as well!
This is going to span the remaining weeks in July, but this week I’m recommending 5 books to Amanda. Next week, she’ll do a “Try a Chapter” tag to pick a book, and at the end of the month she’ll review the book!
Now for picking these books, I’ve gone through Amanda’s Goodreads and thought long and hard about books I think she’ll love! Also, as you’ll remember from her intro (check out my blog to read it), Amanda is looking for some fantasy recs and BOY am I ready to deliver!
by A.G. Howard – When pursuing Goodreads, I saw that Amanda has read Roseblood by A.G. Howard, which is a Phantom of the Opera reimagining and from her rating, it seems like she really enjoyed it! Splintered is personally y favorite book by A.G. Howard! This is the first book in a gothic/twisted Alice in Wonderland retelling and is one I think she’s really going to enjoy!
by Stephanie Garber – So I’m not sure how you’re going to like book one. You’re either going to be OBSESSED with this story, or pretty so so. BUT I am putting this one on here because Legendary was phenomenal! This is easily one of the best sequels I’ve ever read. It expanded on the world, brought in some new/amazing characters, and kept me guessing what was real until the end! But, you do need to read the first book to read this one, so yeah.
3. Strange the Dreamer
by Laini Taylor – This is one of my favorite fantasy books! This story is so lyrical and beautiful and is one of the best slow burn stories I’ve ever read. This is one of those books that you can just get lost in. I highly recommend the audiobook for this one, I was able to get so immersed in the story and found myself laying on the couch experiencing the world!
by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff – This is one of my favorite series of all tie and I love spread the world to get others to dive in! This fast-paced, dossier style sci-fi book is one of the most unique reading experiences and fun stories I’ve ever devoured. I do highly recommend the audiobook (while following along with the text)!
5. The seven husbands of Evelyn Hugo
by Taylor Jenkins Reid – This is an adult literary fiction/historical fiction/contemporary novel that has been getting all of the buzz. Now, this is not the usual kind of book I gravitate towards, but after seeing so many people rave about it, I was curious and caved. Yeah, this book is so deserving of the hype. I’m not sure this is my favorite of the year or just in my top 5, but it is one of the best books I have ever read! This is another book I recommend the audiobook for. Because the book is mostly an interview, the audiobook helped it feel like Evelyn was telling you the story directly and it really helped suck me into the novel!
I can’t wait to see which book you choose!
